Fiction Refinery is committed to providing high-quality editorial and coaching services. Because these services involve significant time, expertise, and custom analysis, all sales are generally final.

However, we do offer a Satisfaction Guarantee:

  • If you are not satisfied with the work delivered, you agree to notify Fiction Refinery within 14 days of receiving your evaluation, feedback, or service deliverables.

  • We will make a reasonable effort to address your concerns, clarify feedback, or revise portions of the work where appropriate.

  • If, after reasonable attempts to resolve the issue, you still feel the service does not meet your expectations, Fiction Refinery may choose, at its sole discretion, to issue:

    • a partial refund,

    • a full refund, or

    • additional support or revisions in lieu of a refund.

Refunds are not guaranteed and are assessed case-by-case based on the specific service, the nature of the concerns raised, and the amount of work already completed.

No refunds are given for:

  • Missed calls or sessions without prior notice

  • Failure to provide required materials

  • Changes in your writing project, preferences, or personal schedule

  • Digital products once accessed or downloaded

5. Client Responsibilities for Coaching, Editing, or Evaluations

If you purchase a paid service such as:

  • Story Breakthrough sessions

  • Manuscript evaluations

  • Developmental edits

  • Coaching calls

  • Audits

  • Courses or workshops

you agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information

  • Submit required materials on time

  • Participate respectfully and professionally

  • Understand that results depend on your effort and implementation

We do not guarantee results, including but not limited to:

  • Book sales

  • Publishing outcomes

  • Agent representation

  • Reader reviews

  • Personal income changes

Your success depends on many factors outside our control.

6. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, all content on fictionrefinery.com, including:

  • Text

  • Images

  • Videos

  • Courses

  • Evaluations

  • Frameworks

  • Worksheets

  • Story structures

  • Branding

  • Designs

  • Posts and emails

is the intellectual property of Fiction Refinery.

You may not:

  • Reproduce

  • Resell

  • Modify

  • Distribute

  • Share publicly

  • Teach as your own work

without written permission.

Limited permission is granted to download resources for your personal use only.

7. Submitted Content (Manuscripts, Scenes, Forms, etc.)

When you submit anything to Fiction Refinery (such as a scene for a diagnostic, manuscript pages, email answers, forms, etc.), you retain full copyrights to your original work.

By submitting content, you grant Fiction Refinery a non-exclusive, royalty-free, temporary license to review, edit, evaluate, or otherwise interact with your materials solely for the purpose of delivering the service you requested.

We do not:

  • Claim ownership

  • Publish your content

  • Share your content publicly

unless you give explicit written permission (e.g., for testimonials or case studies).

8. Testimonials and Marketing

If you submit a testimonial, review, or feedback voluntarily, you grant Fiction Refinery permission to use it for marketing purposes, including:

  • Website

  • Sales pages

  • Social media

  • Advertising

Only your first name and/or initials will be used unless you explicitly approve your full name.

9. Third-Party Tools and Links

Fiction Refinery uses third-party tools including but not limited to:

  • HoneyBook

  • Kit

  • Facebook Pixel

These services may collect data according to their own privacy policies. Fiction Refinery is not responsible for the practices of external websites or tools.
